Budget and Expenditures
Because our mission is to maximize revenue from state assets like land and minerals, the Texas General Land Office is the only agency that earns more than it spends. By depending on various non-tax funding sources, the Land Office has reduced the amount of general revenue requested from the Legislature and works to find innovative ways to reduce spending and increase return on investment for all Texans.
For the schoolchildren . . .
Because of our mission to make money for the Permanent School Fund, the Land Office is one of the few agencies that earns more than it spends. The primary source of these earnings comes from oil and gas development on state land. Learn More
