The Richard A. Anderson Texas State Veterans Home is set to open in the spring of 2019. On Friday, October 26th, 2018 Texas General Land Commissioner George P. Bush led a behind the scenes tour to give the public a first look at the progress made on this exciting development in our community. The Richard A. General Land Office, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Release Coastal Texas Protection and Restoration Feasibility Study Draft Integrated Feasibility Report and Environmental Impact Statement
Today the Texas General Land Office (GLO) and the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announce the release of the Coastal Texas Protection and Restoration Study Draft Integrated Feasibility Report and Environmental Impact Statement, a milestone in the effort to reduce the risk along the Texas coast from dangerous storm surges and other threats. Since 2015, GLO and USACE have worked cooperatively on a first-of-its-kind feasibility study formulating risk reduction solutions to address coastal storm risks to the vast and important Texas coastline. Cmr. George P. Bush calls on Texas Congressional Delegation to support request for mitigation funding flexibility to improve recovery efforts

Bush announced he sent a letter to the Texas Congressional Delegation requesting support for his request to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for greater flexibility in the rules governing $4.383 billion in Community Development Block Grant - Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) allocation for mitigation."We must be bold in our efforts to recover responsibly," said Commissioner Bush. Bush released the following statement after the San Antonio City Council voted in favor of approving the Alamo plaza lease agreement and closing the streets in front of the Alamo. Today Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush submitted Amendment 1 to the State Action Plan for Hurricane Harvey recovery, which includes local plans detailing the distribution and eligible uses of $2.3 billion in direct allocations for Harris County and the City of Houston, to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for final approval."Torrential rains and historic flood levels left many homes in Harris County and Houston damaged or destroyed in the wake of Hurricane Harvey," Commissioner Bush said. Over 5000 volunteers work to keep Texas beaches clean
Today, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the results of the 2018 Fall Adopt-A-Beach Cleanup. “The can-do Texas spirit cannot be stopped,” said Commissioner George P. Bush. “Despite the first postponement in Adopt-A-Beach history and the potential threat of rain, 5,199 volunteers arrived at 22 beachfront locations to remove 76,576 pounds of trash from the Texas coastline. GLO announces approval of Regional Councils of Government Methods of Distribution for local recovery funds
Today Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the Texas General Land Office (GLO) has approved all nine methods of distribution (MODs) proposed by regional Councils of Governments' (COGs) for $276 million in Hurricane Harvey recovery funds for the buyout and acquisition program and $413 million for infrastructure program for cities and counties affected by Hurricane Harvey. COG boards are comprised of elected officials from the impacted communities. Read More
