    Hurricane Harvey Debris Contracts

Hurricane Harvey has devastated the vast majority of the Texas coast.

Texans in Corpus Christi, Rockport, Port Aransas, Port O’Connor and other cities and towns have suffered extensive wind damage. The Houston region has suffered historic flood damage due to Harvey’s unprecedented multiple landfalls and rainfall. In all, nearly one in four Texans has been impacted by this storm.

On behalf of the State of Texas and the General Land Office (GLO), thank you very much for your interest in helping us address the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey, and in particular the extensive debris removal and disposal work that lies in the weeks and months ahead.

The GLO’s responsibility is limited to removing debris from public beaches located in an area designated as a threatened area in a disaster declaration. The GLO is also responsible for the management of state owned submerged land, and the Commissioner may authorize the removal and disposal of marine debris, as well as certain vessels and structures, to protect public health and safety. In addition to debris removal contractors, the GLO’s debris removal work is assisted by third-party providers of debris monitoring services.

The GLO has already publicly solicited and contracted for debris removal and monitoring services to meet current needs. Therefore, the GLO does not have current opportunities for additional debris removal or monitoring services contracts. The GLO will procure future debris removal and monitoring services in accordance with state law and regulations. Information on state contracting opportunities is available on the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts Website
