Today, SAN ANTONIO — Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush released the following statement applauding the Texas Independence Trail’s endorsement of the Alamo plan. The Texas Heritage Trails Program (THTP) is the Texas Historical Commission’s (THC) award-winning heritage tourism initiative. This economic development initiative encourages communities, heritage regions, and the state to partner and promote Texas' historic and cultural resources. The Texas Independence Trails Region are on the front lines of safeguarding and telling Texas’ unique and powerful history

“The Texas Independence Trail leads the way for visitors to learn about the spirit of our great state through the Texian’s struggle for independence,” said Commissioner George P. Bush. “The Alamo is a historic icon for the state of Texas, representing the core values this great state was founded upon, including liberty, freedom and independence. Our defender’s fight for liberty from tyranny must never be forgotten. I am pleased to announce the Texas Independence Trail has endorsed the Alamo plan to preserve and protect the 1836 battlefield and Alamo church for generations to come.”
