Unaccompanied Veteran Burial to be held at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery

KILLEEN — Today, Texas Veterans Land Board Chairman George P. Bush announced that on Tuesday, June 4th, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. SHARP, the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas will conduct an Unaccompanied Veteran burial for SSG. Mary Lynne Werner. Born in July of 1951, Mary Lynne Werner served in the United States Army from 1978 - 1985. Werner has received the following awards: Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award), and Rifle M16 (Expert).

Werner is not expected to have anyone attend her funeral. Please help us spread the word and ensure that our United States Army Veteran is not buried alone. Members of the Central Texas community are welcome to attend.

Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery staff have coordinated with the Fort Hood Casualty Office to ensure that Werner will receive full military honors. If no next-of-kin present themselves at the ceremony, the On-Site Representative of the Veterans Land Board will accept the United States flag on Werner’s behalf.

The Texas Veterans Land Board works with the local community and fellow Veterans service organizations to ensure that NO Veteran is EVER left behind. Please join us to honor her life and service with a full military burial.
