Navigation for Caring for the Coast
Caring for the Coast Home Oil Spills Environmental Protection Permit Assistance Coastal Erosion Open Beaches Coastal Construction Grants & FundingThe project goal is to create a productive and fully functioning reef system within five years post-construction taking into consideration some amount of perturbations in the temporal hydrologic cycles normally found in any estuarine and bay system. The Nature Conservancy (TNC) will construct a three-dimensional sub-tidal reef structure within the historic footprint Half Moon Reef in Matagorda Bay. The material will be placed in water 5-8 feet deep. Reef rows will be approximately 18 feet in width, 650 feet in length, and 2 feet in height (after settling). A monitoring plan will be developed to measure the project's structural and functional success.
