Alternative Fuels
The Texas General Land Office promotes the use of alternative fuels like natural gas or biofuels for vehicular use, because of their benefit for both the Texas economy and environment. The agency’s long history in the oil and gas industry makes it uniquely suited to lead Texas toward greater use of new energy technologies and fuel sources.
Natural Gas
Both leasing and selling natural gas, the Land Office is an accepted leader in the promotion of clean-burning natural gas as a fuel for consumer and commercial vehicles. Grant money available through the Land Office encourages more fleet managers to consider alternative fuels, and the agency works to improve the availability of refueling stations and bring advanced technologies to our state. The Land Office participates in the Clean Cities programs throughout Texas and works with NGV America and other state, regional and national programs to highlight the advantages of natural gas vehicles.
