Texas - birthplace of the modern petroleum industry - is pioneering the future of renewable energy.
Developing renewable energy on Texas' Permanent School Fund lands is a top goal of the Land Office, which manages 13.3 million acres of revenue producing property. The Land Office leases these lands to private developers interested in exploiting Texas' vast renewable energy resources. The Permanent School Fund earns a percentage of the production from these renewable energy resources once they are developed, creating an entirely new revenue stream for the fund. For the school children of Texas, renewable energy is renewable revenue.
The Renewable Energy Division is actively seeking new projects and partners to advance the production of renewable energy in Texas. A new website exclusively for these efforts is currently under development.
