PRESS RELEASE — Jan 25, 2019

AMARILLO — Today the Ussery Roan State Veterans Home located in Amarillo, Texas announced that they have received their latest piece of innovative technology - a Snoezelen machine for the benefit of their veterans.

The Ussery Roan Texas State Veterans Home has been able to purchase a Snoezelen machine to assist residents in therapeutic relaxation. The snoezelen machine was originally designed to help kids with autism and is now making its way to millions of people nationwide with sensory therapeutic needs. This device enables auditory stimulation which is very effective for mood enhancement, cognition and relaxation. This device is also great for people who struggle with dementia as the sensory activity provides stimulation that can increase awareness and attention.

Because of the generosity from the Disabled American Veterans organization, Ussery Roan was the first VLB home to receive a Snoezelen machine for their facility. It is the commitment of Disabled American Veterans to enhance the lives of Veterans for which the Ussery Roan is deeply appreciative. The Ussery Roan Home will be hosting lunch for the organization in honor of their commitment to the Veteran community.
The VLB Texas State Veterans Homes provides affordable, long-term nursing care for Texas Veterans, their spouses and Gold Star parents. Conveniently located across Texas, each first-class facility is designed to enhance quality of life with a clean, caring and dignified setting appropriate to those men and women who have served our country with honor.
