Toadsuck, TX native "Alfalfa Bill Murray" was born on November 21, 1869. He left Texas for Oklahoma and sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 1932 but his "Bread, Butter, Bacon, and Beans" campaign garnered him only 23 convention votes. Murray frequently called the Oklahoma National Guard into service, including the 1931 Toll Bridge War against Texas to re open a Red River toll bridge.
