City of Galveston awarded first Local Hazard Mitigation Plans Program grant, application still open

Today Commissioner George P. Bush announced the Texas General Land Office (GLO) approved a $70,000 grant for the City of Galveston through the Local Hazard Mitigation Plans Program (LHMPP). By updating an existing or developing a new local hazard mitigation plan, jurisdictions can access various federal funding sources for project development and implementation, such as the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP). Debris Removal Commences on Bolivar Peninsula

The Texas General Land Office (GLO) has begun work on a debris removal project along the Bolivar Peninsula. Hundreds of Volunteers Participate in Adopt-A-Beach Winter Cleanup

Despite frigid temperatures, volunteers from across Texas partnered with the General Land Office (GLO) during the 2022 Adopt-A-Beach Winter Cleanup held February 4-5. The event drew 307 volunteers who worked together to clean four locations across the Coastal Bend area and one on South Padre Island.
