On Tuesday, August 10, the Texas General Land Office disaster recovery team will celebrate the completion of two multifamily housing complexes to replace affordable rental housing damaged or destroyed in Hurricane Harvey. The GLO awarded $8,650,000 to rebuild Coastal Bend Crossing, an 80-unit affordable rental complex in Aransas Pass, in addition to $18,375,435 to rebuild the Fox Run Apartments, a 150-unit multifamily community in Victoria. Today, July 16, the Texas General Land Office disaster recovery team will celebrate the completion of two multifamily housing complexes to replace affordable rental housing damaged or destroyed in Hurricane Harvey. The GLO awarded $15,000,000 to rebuild Willow Creek Manor, a 128-unit affordable rental complex in Alvin, in addition to $8,500,000 to rebuild the Bay Breeze Apartments, a 100-unit multifamily community in Bay City. Today, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced a lawsuit against the Biden Administration as a part of the Texas Defense Task Force. Filed in the Southern Texas District Federal Court, McAllen Division, the lawsuit sues President Biden and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas on grounds of illegally preventing the border wall from being constructed. On Wednesday, July 7, the Texas General Land Office disaster recovery team will celebrate the completion of two multifamily housing complexes to replace affordable rental housing damaged or destroyed in Hurricane Harvey. The GLO awarded $2,466,000 to build The Oaks at Brenham, a 10-unit affordable rental complex in Brenham, in addition to $8,766,974 to build the Marquis at Fayette, a 36-unit multifamily community. Texas General Land Office Celebrates Signing of SB 1160

Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed Senate Bill 1160 into law yesterday which will create a Gulf Coast Protection District. This district will be authorized to receive and issue funds for future coastal projects identified in the Coastal Texas Protection and Restoration Feasibility Study. The “Coastal Texas Study,” as it is commonly called, is a 6-year, $20.6 million comprehensive study led by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) in partnership with the Texas General Land Office. Harris County receiving $1.1 billion in infrastructure and mitigation projects

Today, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced plans to subaward $750 million in light of a denial by U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) of a direct allocation of mitigation funding for Harris County. The General Land Office (GLO) will be drafting an action plan that will include a set aside of Community Development Block Grant Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) funding for $750 million and direct at least $500 million in additional funds to be distributed through the Regional Mitigation Program.
