Volunteers are signing up now for the nation's biggest coastal cleanup on Saturday, September 24th. The 2016 Texas General Land Office Adopt-A-Beach Fall Cleanup takes place at 30 sites coast-wide. GLO’s Texas Coasts Wins Award at Prestigious International GIS Technology Conference

Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush today proudly announced Texas Coasts, a Web-based app to help vacationers find the perfect beach, won 3rd place in the Use of an API in a Map category at the 2016 Esri International User Conference (Esri UC). The Environmental Systems Research Institute, or Esri, hosts the world's largest annual conference dedicated to geographic information system (GIS) technology. This category evaluates maps that make specific use of an Esri mapping API as a core component in the design and publication of a standalone online map product.

Commissioner Bush announces construction completion of Jefferson County Public Health Clinic

AUSTIN – Texas General Land Office Commissioner George P. Bush is pleased to announce that Jefferson County has completed construction on the $2.7 million Jefferson County Health Facility funded from Hurricane Ike Community Development Block Grant - Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds. This new facility will house a Jefferson County Public Health Department Clinic and the Jefferson County Adult Probation satellite office at 860 4th Street in Port Arthur, Texas.

VLB to host Texas Veterans Benefits Fair in Dallas on June 11th

The Alamo Debuts New Visitor Orientation Film

Visitors to the Alamo now have a new way to learn about the site’s three hundred year long history. The Texas General Land Office recently debuted a new visitor orientation film that covers the Alamo from its founding as the Mission San Antonio de Valero through its current existence as the Shrine of Texas Liberty. "The Alamo's more than 300 year story is a compelling narrative that tells the story of how Texas came to be what it is today," said Commissioner George P. More than 6,700 volunteers pick up 110,000 lbs of trash from Texas beaches during Spring Adopt-A-Beach Cleanup

The results for Saturday’s 30th annual Spring Adopt-A-Beach Cleanup by the Texas General Land Office are in. Unfortunately wet weather conditions resulted in the cancellation of four sites, but 6,757 volunteers showed up at 27 locations to remove 110,663 pounds of trash from 151 miles of Texas coastline. The rain cleared in time giving volunteers a sunny but cool day to enjoy the beautiful Texas coast!Since 1986, more than 496,000 Adopt-A-Beach volunteers have cleaned more than 9,200 tons of trash from Texas beaches.
