AUSTIN, Texas— Today, Texas Land Commissioner and Veterans Land Board (VLB) Chairwoman Dawn Buckingham, M.D., is pleased to announce the VLB Land Loans team closed 87 land loans valued at $9,504,600, the highest amount in fiscal year 2025.
"Serving our men and women in uniform, and our Veterans who have served, is one of our highest priorities at the Veterans Land Board," said Commissioner Buckingham. "I am proud of the work done by our land loans team as we help Veterans purchase land for recreation or to build their homes and fulfill their American Dream. The VLB is honored to continue assisting Veterans through their land-buying journey, from qualifying to closing."

About the Land Loan Program
The VLB Veterans Land Loan Program is the only one of its kind in the nation, giving Texas Veterans and Military Members the opportunity to borrow up to $150,000 to purchase land at a competitive interest rate while requiring a minimum five percent down payment for tracts of one acre or more.
Through the Dual Spouse Land Loan Benefit, two Veterans who are spouses and are individually eligible to participate in the land loan program and satisfy all program qualification and requirements, may be eligible to apply for a land loan to purchase the same tract of land (minimum of one net acre). They may borrow up to $225,000, with a minimum requirement of five percent down.
The program is easy to use and offers Texas Veterans and Military Members exclusive financing towards the purchase of their own piece of Texas.
