AUSTIN— Today, Texas Land Commissioner and Veterans Land Board (VLB) Chairwoman Dawn Buckingham, M.D., is encouraging Texans to honor our military heroes during a Memorial Day Ceremony at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
This year, the City of Killeen will honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Attendees will hear from Gen. James E. Rainey, Commanding General of U.S. Army Futures Command, and music will be performed by the Fort Cavasos 1st Cavalry Band. Multiple Veterans organizations will also be in attendance in Killeen.

In addition to the ceremonies, all four Texas State Veterans Cemeteries (TSVC) will remain open 24/7 beginning Friday, May 23 through Memorial Day. All Missing in Action (MIA) and Killed in Action (KIA) headstones will be illuminated each night at all four TSVC through Memorial Day.
