PRESS RELEASE — Apr 24, 2024

AUSTIN — Today, Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D. announced the results of the 2024 Adopt-A-Beach Coastwide Spring Cleanup on Saturday, April 20, 2024. This year, 5,483 volunteers participated in the cleanup to help keep Texas beaches beautiful by removing 59,040 pounds of trash from the coast.

"As Land Commissioner and a Texan who lived on the Texas coast for over a decade, preserving our beautiful coastline and vital habitats is a mission near and dear to my heart," said Commissioner Buckingham. "The GLO's Adopt-A-Beach cleanups are a crucial part of this mission. During this year's Adopt-A-Beach Coastwide Spring Cleanup, over 5,400 incredible volunteers picked up 29.5 tons of trash across the Texas coast. I look forward to the continued growth of this essential program as we work to preserve our beaches for recreational use and protect coastal habitats for the wildlife that calls them home."
