PRESS RELEASE — Jan 10, 2024

AUSTIN — Today, Commissioner Dawn Buckingham M.D. announced that the GLO is currently accepting admissions for the 28th Annual Treasures of the Texas Coast Children’s Art Contest. This contest is facilitated through the Texas General Land Office’s (GLO) Adopt-A-Beach Program.

The contest encourages all public, private, and homeschooled Texas students in kindergarten through sixth grade to send in their masterpieces. The contestants' artwork should be based on the theme "Treasures of the Texas Coast” and depict what makes the Texas coast important to each individual student.

"As Texas Land Commissioner, a Texan who grew up near the coast, and as a mother, it was truly an honor to pick last year's winner of this inspiring competition and appreciate all of the beautiful artwork created by young Texans who love the Texas coast," said Commissioner Buckingham. "I encourage all young Texans, grades K-6, to submit their work, not only for a chance to win incredible prizes but also to illustrate how much the next generation cares about the future of Texas beaches."
