Determining OSSF Failure Rates in CZB

Project Description

Project will determine OSSF failure rates, identify the underlying causes of failures, and measure the concentration of E. coli in septic outflow. This project will (1) gather information from authorized agents in coastal counties and from OSSF license holders to identify areas with high concentrations of malfunctioning OSSFs (hotspots) and (2) measure bacteria concentration in waste-outflow from TAMU OSSF Research Center facilities. The project will also generate data and maps showing OSSF failure rates and causes by county, malfunctioning OSSF hotspots by ZIP (or census block), and the concentration of bacteria in OSSF waste outflow.
