Assessing flow and sediment dynamics of Lower Brazos and San Bernard Basins

Summary

The University of Texas at Arlington and TAMU-Galveston will undertake field campaigns and modeling experiments to help attain a clearer understanding of flow connectivity and sediment dynamics along the Brazos River, the San Bernard River, Caney Creek, and the surrounding area. The project will include; 1) collection of sediment core and bathymetric data from the Brazos River mouth to Cedar Cut; 2) configuration of coupled hydrologic-hydrodynamic and sediment transport models for the region; 3) assessment of freshwater inflows along San Bernard River during floods; and 4) scenario analyses for flooding, sediment, and San Bernard River mouth stability.
