Today Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Ben Carson signed a grant agreement officially authorizing the Texas General Land Office (GLO) to begin spending $5.024 billion in Community Development Block Grant - Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds to help Texas recover from Hurricane Harvey."Disaster recovery requires long-term commitment to helping communities rebuild," said Commissioner Bush. Today Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) issued its guidance for the administration of an additional $652 million award to the state of Texas to help with the long-term recovery following Hurricane Harvey. The additional award brings the total award of Community Development Block Grant disaster recovery (CDBG-DR) funds to the state of Texas to $5.734 billion. The CDBG-DR funds will be administered by the Texas General Land Office's (GLO) Community Development & Revitalization (CDR) program.

Today Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) approved an amendment awarding $8 million in additional Community Development Block Grants for Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds for a buyout program in Harris County for repeatedly flooded homes. The funds are being awarded to Harris County from HUD's first allocation $57.8 million in CDBG-DR funds after Hurricane Harvey. The funds came from appropriations designated for previous disaster events and held in reserve by HUD in anticipation of future disaster events.

Today Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) approved the State Action Plan for $5.024 billion in Community Development Block Grant - Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds to help Texas recover from Hurricane Harvey. The approved plan will deliver $2.7 billion in recovery funds to areas impacted by Hurricane Harvey outside of the City of Houston and Harris County.

Bush and the Texas General Land Office team members are working with federal, state and local partners monitoring the ongoing flooding situation throughout several parts of Texas, especially Rio Grande Valley, Coastal Bend, and Southeast Texas. Today Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced $6.5 million in Community Development Block Grants for Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds to help replace damaged and destroyed apartment complexes in Rockport, one of the coastal cities hardest hit by Hurricane Harvey. The money is being awarded by the Texas General Land Office (GLO) from $57.8 million in U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) CDBG-DR funds designated for previous events and held back in the case of an event in 2017.
