"As Land Commissioner and as the Veterans Land Board Chairwoman, I am beyond honored to celebrate this remarkable accomplishment with the men and women of the VLB and those who work tirelessly in these homes to ensure Texas Veterans receive the highest quality of care possible, said Commissioner Buckingham. "As citizens of this state and nation, we owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to those who have selflessly served and preserved the freedoms we cherish today. The VLB will continue giving back to our Veterans by providing them with the best long-term care facilities, benefits, and therapies this country has to offer."

The three Texas State Veterans Homes were ranked in Texas as follows:

3rd: Alfredo Gonzalez Texas State Veterans Home in McAllen

5th: Ambrosio Guillen Texas State Veterans Home in El Paso

20th: William R. Courtney Texas State Veterans Home in Temple

A total of 475 of the nation's top facilities were identified this year out of 11,722 analyzed. Approximately, the top twenty percent of facilities were awarded in each state. The nursing homes were ranked by scores based on performance, reputation and COVID-19.

The mission of the VLB is to ensure that we offer the very best package of Veterans benefits in the country and those of us who work for the VLB strive to meet those goals every day. For more than 75 years, we have had the honor to serve Veterans, Military Members and their families in Texas, and we look forward to keeping that promise in the years to come.
