HUD awards nearly $19 million in additional aid for Texas communities recovering from historic 2015 & 2016 floods
AUSTIN - Texas General Land Office Commissioner George P. Bush is pleased to announce that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded nearly $19 million in additional funding to the state of Texas to assist in long-term recovery efforts following severe flooding events that occurred in 2015 and 2016. Of the total new funding, the state of Texas will be awarded $18 million, which will be administered by the General Land Office's Community Development and Revitalization (CDR) program.

The company offering the highest up-front payment (commonly called a bonus) is awarded the lease.

Bush is encouraging communities affected by the 2015 flooding events to submit applications for Community Development Block Grants for Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds to pay for long-term housing and infrastructure recovery projects. These newly available funds will be administered by the Texas General Land Office's Community Development & Revitalization program (GLO-CDR) to help disaster impacted communities rebuild homes and infrastructure.

SAN ANTONIO - Cmr. George P. Bush and Mayor Ivy Taylor are thrilled to congratulate three local students who were recently named winners of the 2017 Camp Alamo Art Contest. This spring, students ages 9 - 13 were invited to submit art projects illustrating what the Alamo means to them. Three winners were chosen to receive full scholarships to Camp Alamo, an annual, week-long summer camp on the Alamo grounds. On Friday, two of the winners, Hayley Dodge and Giana N. Acosta, met with San Antonio Mayor Ivy Taylor at City Hall.
