Aransas National Wildlife Refuge Dagger Point Shoreline Protection-Phase II

Project Description

In 2019, the Coastal Bend Bays & Estuaries Program (CBBEP) entered into a cooperative agreement with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) to address damages suffered at the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge from Hurricane Harvey and the ongoing erosion along the Blackjack Peninsula shoreline. This project installed a shoreline protection structure to protect approximately 5 miles of shoreline at Aransas National Wildlife Refuge. The project constructed approximately three miles of rock breakwater, armored toe at the base of eroding bluffs, regrading of some bluff slopes, and potentially upland planting.
