The Texas General Land Office and Veterans Land Board (GLO) allows eligible employees to telework as a privilege, not a right, with approval for telework based on job duties, performance, training, and management determination. Eligible employees generally may telework on pre-approved work schedules, up to two days per week, and must maintain the same productivity, availability, and compliance standards consistent with all agency policies as non-teleworking employees. Specifically, the GLO’s teleworking plan, provides guidance to employees on required and prohibited conduct—such as the prohibition on conducting in-person business at the employee’s personal residence—and includes guidance for supervisors on monitoring a teleworking employee’s productivity. GLO may revoke telework arrangements at any time due to performance, operational needs, or changes in job responsibilities, and will renew each arrangement on a yearly basis.
