Rafael Gonzales served as a Marine radio operator from 1969 through 1973. He saw action in Vietnam and took part in the battles of Hill 52, Pig Hill, and Charlie Ridge, amongst others.
Rafael Gonzales served as a Marine radio operator from 1969 through 1973. He saw action in Vietnam and took part in the battles of Hill 52, Pig Hill, and Charlie Ridge, amongst others. He claims to have been the one who created the radio expression of "roger that" due to his inability to say affirmative. He left the Marines as a sergeant and now resides in Seabrook, Texas.
