VOLUNTEERS COLLECT MORE THAN 23,000 POUNDS OF TRASH AT THE ADOPT-A-BEACH 2021 COASTWIDE SPRING CLEANUP

Volunteers from all over Texas participated in the Adopt-A-Beach 2021 Coastwide Spring Cleanup that took place on April 17, 2021. The 1,485 volunteers worked together to clean 22 locations along the Texas coast.The coastwide cleanup resulted in 23,399 pounds of trash being removed, leaving our beloved Texas coast clean and ready for wildlife and the community alike to enjoy this summer."The turnout to the Adopt-A-Beach Coastwide Spring Cleanup conveys how much pride Texans have in keeping our beaches and the great state of Texas clean," said Texas Land Commissioner George P.

Today, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced Stephen F. Austin claimed the title of the 2021 Top Texan Tournament. Austin’s dominant showing in the spring tournament overwhelmed the competition and paved the way for his second victory in as many years.“Texans have spoken, and they have once again selected Stephen F. CMR BUSH ANNOUNCES RESULTS OF BRAZORIA COUNTY VESSEL TURN-IN PROGRAM EVENT

Today, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the results of the four-day Vessel Turn-In Program held in Brazoria County this week from March 22-25.   The Texas General Land Office (GLO) and Brazoria County partnership collected 39 vessels measuring 598 feet. Since 2016, the annual events with Brazoria County and other counties along the Texas Coast have collected and disposed of a total of 917 derelict and inoperable boats.

Today, the Texas General Land Office announced that registration for the Annual Adopt-A-Beach Spring Coastwide Cleanup will begin Friday, March 5, 2021. Volunteers are encouraged to sign up for the cleanup scheduled to occur on Saturday, April 17, 2021. The Texas GLO Adopt-A-Beach Spring Cleanup will take place at 21 different locations across the Texas coastline.

TX GLO EXTENDS 2021 “TREASURES OF THE TEXAS COAST” CHILDREN'S ART CONTEST

Today, Texas General Land Office announced the extension of the 2021 “Treasures of the Texas Coast Children's Art Contest.” Due to inclement weather and changes in postal service time, all Texas students (public, private, and home-schooled) in grades K-6 who wish to participate in this year’s contest, now have until March 10th to submit their work. Artwork should be based on the theme “Treasures of the Texas Coast” and portray why the Texas coast is important or noteworthy to the participating student.

MORE THAN 8,900 POUNDS OF TRASH COLLECTED AT ADOPT-A-BEACH WINTER CLEANUP

Over 340 volunteers participated in the 2021 Annual Adopt-A-Beach Winter Cleanup that took place on February 5 and 6, 2021. Volunteers worked together to clean a total of 28.5 miles of beach and bay area. The two-day trash cleanup event resulted in over 8,900 pounds of trash being removed, leaving our Texas beaches clean and beautiful for wildlife and the community alike to enjoy.  Sixty-three volunteers helped clean South Padre Island on Friday and collected 1,512 pounds of trash.
