AUSTIN, Texas— Today, Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D., encouraged volunteers to sign up and participate in the Texas General Land Office's (GLO) Adopt-A-Beach 2026 Winter Beach Cleanups: Friday, February 6, 2026, on South Padre Island and Saturday, February 7, 2026, in the Coastal Bend.

"Last year, nearly 12,000 volunteers picked up close to 118,000 pounds of trash as a part of the GLO's Adopt-A-Beach Cleanups. The Adopt-A-Beach Winter Cleanups are the first opportunity of 2026 for Texans and volunteers from around the nation to make this year another resounding success in our mission to keep Texas beaches clean," said Commissioner Buckingham. "I encourage volunteers to come out to South Padre Island and the Coastal Bend on February 6th and 7th to help ensure these coastal communities remain beautiful for generations to come."
