SPI Beach Nourishment with Beneficial Use of Dredge Material

Project Description

The City of South Padre Island has a long and successful tradition of utilizing BUDM projects to hold Island roll-over at bay and allow the city to remain the tourisms mecca that it is. The focus on the hotspot has left the beaches on the center of the island to grow thinner and thinner. We seek to place the material in this area and allow it to experience a slower journey North than material that is placed in the hotspot seems to experience. The material will still reinforce the hotspot but it will serve a purpose further South as well.
