Village of Surfside Beach Groin System & Beach Nourishment

Project Description

This project constructed pedestrian beach stabilization measures in the Village of Surfside Beach. The first component will construct a 300-foot long rock terminal groin 60 feet southwest of the Texas State Highway 332 terminus at the beach perpendicular to the shoreline, and a secondary 325-foot long angled rock groin to be constructed 150 feet east of Texas St, tying into the existing rock revetment near its western terminus. The second project component will consist of 6,900 feet of beach nourishment from the Freeport ship channel north jetty to a point approximately 1,200 feet east of the Hwy 332 terminus. This nourishment will incorporate a FEMA Hurricane Harvey repair project.
