Galveston USACE Permitting Data Collection Project

Project Description

This project provides funding and scope authorization to conduct supplemental archaeological and historical compliance surveys required under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and the Antiquities Code of Texas. This surveying is necessary to obtain U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) extension reauthorizations of the Park Board’s existing USACE Section 10/404 Individual Project permits (Nos.SWG-2000-02888 & SWG-2007-01025) for beach nourishment and beach fill material borrow source authorization. The funding and scope of this project will supplement the ongoing regulatory work being funded and performed under CEPRA Project No.1733 for the reauthorization of both permits. These permits are necessary for beach nourishment and coastal restoration projects on Galveston Island.
