Project Description
This construction project will expand an existing rookery island, armor it with rock revetment, and construct an adjacent oyster reef for bird foraging. This final phase builds on previous phases funded by the GLO CMP program. The Aransas Bay Bird Island (Deadman Island) has historically provided nesting habitat for colonial waterbirds, especially for ground-nesting species such as skimmers and terns. It is one of the last remaining rookeries in Aransas Bay.
