AUSTIN — Today, Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D. announced the results of the 2024 Adopt-A-Beach Coastwide Fall Cleanup on Saturday, September 28, 2024. This year, 7,166 volunteers participated in the cleanup to help keep Texas beaches beautiful by removing 63,647 pounds of trash from the coast.
"The Texas Coast was my home for over a decade and as Land Commissioner I am dedicated to ensuring our beautiful beaches are preserved for future generations," said Commissioner Buckingham. "It was an honor to meet some of the incredible volunteers at Galveston Beach, and I am thrilled that volunteers across the Texas coast picked up an astounding 63,647 pounds of trash. Their hard work is the foundation of the Adopt-A-Beach program. I want to thank the Adopt-A-Beach volunteers for their commitment as well as this year's state sponsors for their vital support. Together, we can keep our beaches clean, conserve important marine habitats, and strengthen our coastal communities."
