AUSTIN— Today, Texas Land Commissioner and Veterans Land Board (VLB) Chairwoman Dawn Buckingham, M.D., is encouraging Texans to honor our military heroes during a Memorial Day Ceremony at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene.

Texans are encouraged to attend and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. This year's ceremony will include a Big Country One Flyover, music performed by the Abilene Community Band, the West Texas Patriot Guard Riders and the Dyess Air Force Base Honor Guard.

In addition to the ceremonies, all four Texas State Veterans Cemeteries (TSVC) will remain open 24/7 beginning Friday, May 23 through Memorial Day. All Missing in Action (MIA) and Killed in Action (KIA) headstones will be illuminated each night at all four TSVC through Memorial Day.
